Kristen Stewart joins the ranks of actors steering clear of Marvel movie roles, expressing her reluctance during a recent podcast appearance.

On the Not Skinny, But Not Fat podcast, Stewart bluntly stated, “I will likely never do a Marvel movie… it sounds like a nightmare, actually.” Her sentiments resonate with others in the industry.

Last month, Ray Winstone revealed his struggle during the production of Marvel’s Black Widow, considering quitting due to the demanding reshoots and interference from producers, calling it “soul-destroying.”

Nicolas Cage also voiced hesitancy about returning to the comic-book genre, indicating he’s moved on from that phase of his career.

Even Martin Scorsese has criticized the genre, labeling it “manufactured content” and likening it to artificial intelligence creating films.

Stewart’s disdain for Marvel’s formulaic approach aligns with Amanda Hirsch’s suggestion that she could have portrayed Spider-Man’s love interest, Mary Jane Watson. However, Stewart echoed Scorsese’s sentiments, expressing discomfort with the lack of personal connection in such productions.

She hinted at a potential exception, musing that if acclaimed director Greta Gerwig were to helm a Marvel movie, she might reconsider. This reflects Stewart’s desire for projects driven by artistic vision rather than commercial formulas.

Stewart’s stance adds to the ongoing conversation about artistic integrity and commercialism in Hollywood, highlighting the importance of creative autonomy for actors and filmmakers alike.
