What’s New On Disney Plus In May 2022

In May 2022, here’s what’s new on Disney Plus.

With the list of what’s new on Disney Plus for May 2022, the force is powerful. And, while Disney Plus has two blockbuster series this month (perhaps more for some), we’re not shocked that there’s not as much as, example, the new on Netflix list receives every month.

This works for Disney Plus since the monthly charge is substantially cheaper ($7.99 for 4K streaming vs. $19.99 for Netflix), and so expectations are lower (people know to look for new movies and shows every weekend on all the other big streaming services, too).

Obi-Wan Kenobi, which recasts Ewan McGregor as the Jedi master, will be the most anticipated entry on Disney Plus this month. Another significant launch is a live-action/animation hybrid comedy film based on Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers.

Also, Disney Plus is gladly providing us with more fresh stuff. Sneakerella and The Quest, unlike most else on Disney Plus, are not spin-offs from other Disney, Pixar, Marvel, or Star Wars properties.

The ongoing Moon Knight, which premieres its finale on Wednesday, is Disney Plus’ second big show for May 2022. (May 4). If you’re an international subscriber, your Disney Plus shows may also contain four additional episodes of The Kardashians, which premiere on the Disney Plus Star Channel outside of the United States on May 5, 12, 19, and 26. (as Hulu is only in the U.S.).

Obi-Wan Kenobi

In Disney Plus’ Obi-Wan Kenobi show, the most eagerly anticipated grudge duel in that galaxy far, far away will take place. The series appears to have more to offer than the much-anticipated showdown between Obi-Wan and his errant pupil Anakin (now Darth Vader), yet that’s all most people know about it. More intriguingly, we see Kenobi in a state of defeat, dealing with the consequences of Anakin’s treachery. In addition, he’s already working on his next prodigy, Luke Skywalker.

Two episodes premiere on Friday, May 27.

Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers

Even yours truly was taken aback by this one. Instead of sticking to the original cartoon series’ happy and benign themes, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers demonstrates that characters can mature with their viewers. When you combine openly criticising the concept of a reboot, a “we have to rejoin even though we’ve grown apart” tale, and a combination of CGI and 2D animation with a plot? Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers appears to be a lot of fun. The voice-acting talent is also fantastic, including John Mulaney and Andy Samberg (as Chip and Dale, respectively), as well as Flula Borg, Seth Rogen, J.K. Simmons, and others.

On May 20th, it will be available to stream.

Our favourite picks are highlighted in bold, and we’ve included official Disney Plus synopses to better explain its latest originals.
