What is Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi about?
After the seventh and final season of The Clone Wars in May 2020, Dave Filoni is expanding the Star Wars universe. In the anthology series Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, Count Dooku’s transformation from Jedi Master to Sith Lord is depicted, which consists of six animated shorts.
The first half of the series chronicles the early adventures of young Ahsoka Tano’s birth to her first steps as a Jedi apprentice. Her training with Anakin Skywalker and transformation into a Jedi will also be depicted. The second half of the show will follow Count Dooku’s downfall from a Jedi Master to becoming a Sith Lord. Star Wars released the Tales of the Jedi’s poster on its official Twitter account that teases the fan-favorite Ahsoka and Count Dooku’s origins. However, it was officially announced at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022. David Filoni (aka. Dave Filoni) confirmed the release date of the series and also revealed its first trailer at D23 Expo, featuring the finest glimpse at young Ahsoka Tano.
David Filoni is the master of Star Wars animation undeniably and he is obviously very passionate about his project. Earlier this year, he revealed during a speech at Star Wars Celebration that he had the inspiration for these tales during his expedition of The Mandalorian set. The Tales of the Jedi trailer begins with a very catchy phrase said by the narrator: “Everywhere there is life, but you must face death.” This phrase foretells that someone has to be prepared for the upcoming battle. Then, there is a glimpse of people mourning the loss at Padme Amidala’s funeral. Proceeding further, many characters are shown briefly, but the main character Ashoka as a Jedi is introduced as a fearless baby embracing a wild animal. Later, Ahsoka is carried by her mother who is showing the baby to a clan elder, he says that “Jedi. Ahsoka is Jedi.” This indicates a very significant and powerful role of Ashoka in the series. Then they have to let her go for training as a Jedi.
Further, Count Dooku is shown sporting his iconic lightsaber hilt with a blue blade, who was once a Jedi and Grandmaster Yoda’s student. However, after the events of The Phantom Menace, Dooku fell into the dark side of the Force, but not completely, which gives him a very controversial yet intriguing and strategic persona.
However, here comes a plot twist, as a menacing black-cloaked villain enters the scene. He is holding two crimson lightsabers and wearing an eerie bone mask and challenges Ahsoka for combat. Here the trailer ends but the mystery remains, so get ready to uncover it and tune into the series.
