FIFA World Cup is a game full of thrill and injuries. People seem to call it a ‘championship curse.’ The reigning champions France are also facing a major blowout as their important players keep on getting injured. For Germany, it’s their player Leroy Sane.

Sane who’s only 25, appeared to be in excellent shape as he arrived in Qatar to boost Germany’s chances of winning the championship. Sane had ten goals and six assists in 19 games played for Bayern this season across all competitions.

The German Football Association announced this news through Twitter. Confirming the absence of Leroy Sane in the opening match against Japan. However, the association did not give any updates about the player’s injury.

Four years ago, in Russia, the four-time world champions were humiliated. As they lost the group stage for the first time in their amazing history.

In their Group E opener against Japan, Germany will look to express their frustration. Kimmich claimed that their motivation leading up to the game was “huge.”

“The first game is extremely important. We lost our first game at the last Euros and we didn’t win the tournament, so I hope tomorrow we will win.” Sane could return for Germany’s second match against Spain on Sunday, according to manager Hansi Flick. However in the meantime, he might turn to Thomas Mueller as his replacement.
