Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star Jonathan Majors, discusses what it’s like to play many incarnations of the same character.
Over the weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, fans in Hall H were treated to an unique first look at Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The teaser gave viewers their first glimpse of Kang the Conqueror. This is clearly not Majors first venture into the Marvel universe. MCU fans received a startling surprise, when they met Majors as He Who Remains at the finale of Loki Season 1 last summer.
However, Kang’s name was never revealed officially in Loki, Majors’ casting as Kang the Conqueror in Quantumania indicated that he would perform a far greater part in the next MCU Phases than merely as He Who Remains.
When asked how he juggles numerous versions of the same character at the panel, he stated he merely performs the script. “I would say I grew up in Texas and played around with sports. The best thing about sports when you’re playing the point guard or the quarterback is, a good quarterback or point guard, they have amnesia. They don’t remember the good plays, they don’t remember the bad plays ,they just remember they got to play the game. So that’s how I am with these guys. I just play the script. Tell the story. That’s how it goes.”
Jonathan Majors also claimed that portraying the persona allowed him to explore himself. “I think the thing about Kang, even the comic books, he contains multitudes. For me, it’s a great exploration of myself, just to figure out how much of myself can I explore and share? That’s the opportunity that Kang and He Who Remains offers.”
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to hit theatres on February 17, 2023.
