‘Dancing with the Stars’ premier — Selma Blair stuns judges with performance

Dancing with the Stars is back!

The star-studded show premiered last night as it paired celebrities with professionally trained dancers. The cast for this season includes Bachelorette star Gabby Windey, actress Selma Blair, comedian Wayne Brady, social media personality Charli D’Amelio, and more.

Season 31 is being hosted by Tyra Banks and Alfonso Ribeiro. Len Goodman, Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli. The show has already started off with fierce competition, drama, and emotions.

Selma Blair and her partner Sasha Farber’s performance left everyone in awe and tears. The actress was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018 and has dealt with difficulties both physical and mental since then.

“I want to perform in a way that uses my body,” she told Sasha in rehearsals. “Doing this can only help me in the long run.” She also said felt nervous about her balance but maintained that “I’ve underestimated me in the past so don’t underestimate me.”

She performed to David Cooks’ Time of My Life leaving judges in tears. Carrie Ann told her that “You dance like a true artist.” The response left Selma overwhelmed with emotion as she said, “I’m so grateful, I’m so grateful.”

The judges scores and votes left Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice and her partner Pasha Pashkov and Sex and the City star Jason Lewis along with his partner Peta Murgatroyd in the bottom two.

Judges saved Teresa, sending Jason home.

“I am so sad that I have to go home,” Jason said. “This has been amazing. This is such a wonderful group of people. There’s so much talent here. To get to see how wonderfully everyone did and how supportive everyone has been, it’s been great.”

Dancing with the Stars returns next week for Elvis Night.

The 31st season of Dancing with the Stars is streaming on Disney+. New episodes every Monday.
