During an interview with MovieWeb to discuss his Apple TV+ series, “Sugar,” Farrell expressed admiration for Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight.” He also praised Jack Nicholson’s performance as the Joker, highlighting the enduring appeal of these iconic characters.
While discussing Batman actors, Farrell mentioned enjoying Danny DeVito’s portrayal of The Penguin in Tim Burton’s films, acknowledging his fondness for the character’s earlier interpretations. He also confessed to having a soft spot for Michael Keaton’s Batman, citing Keaton’s portrayal in the original Tim Burton Batman movies as a childhood obsession.
Keaton’s return to the role in “The Flash” and his involvement in the shelved “Batgirl” movie were noted, alongside reports of a potential live-action “Batman Beyond” project.
