Cher attends Apple TV+ documentary ‘Sidney’ premiere

Music icon Cher was at the premier of Sidney hosted by Apple TV+ at the Academy Museum Pictures yesterday.

Directed by Academy Award nominee Reginald Hudlin, the documentary follows the legacy of actor, film maker, and activist Sidney Poitier. He was one of the most gifted and talented actors in cinema history. Poitier was the first black man to win the Academy Award for his performance in Lilies of the Field (1963).

The biography shows his career during the Civil Rights Movement. It includes interviews with Denzel Washington, Spike Lee, Halle Berry, Robert Redford, Lenny Kravitz, and Barbra Streisand.

During a red-carpet interview with The Buzz, Cher talks about how Poitier had a massive impact on her career and “lifted her spirits up.”

The event was also attended by other celebrities including Oprah & Sheryl Lee Ralph as well as Poitier’s daughters.

Sidney premiers on 23rd September on Apple TV+.
