Charithra Chandran, who portrays Edwina in Netflix’s popular period drama Bridgerton, has signed on to feature in a rom-com podcast series, A Mid-Semester Night’s Dream.
Charithra expressed her gratitude and excitement for the role. “A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of my favorite plays and Meet Cute’s modern adaptation in a college setting within the medium of podcasting makes this a really exciting and accessible project to be a part of.”
The story involves a group of graduate students studying Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and they find a magical version of the play that makes people fall in love.
The official synopsis for the play says, “Mia, Lyle, Helen, and Demetri are in a love square at Athinai State University during the fall semester. Lyle and Demetri both have feelings for Mia, who only has eyes for Lyle. Meanwhile, Helen still pines for Demetri and their now-defunct affair. When Patrick, is scorned by academics and the arrogant Professor Oberman, begins playing havoc on the class with the magical book, alliances and emotions are all destined to change.”
Along with Charithra, Rasha Zamamiri, Elliott Ross, Craig First, and Joseph Lymous are also included in the cast. Suha Araj will direct the movie, and the screenplay is by Danielle Evenson and Heather Huntington. Jenn Nielsen serves as an associate producer, while Sean Paulsen serves as an audio producer.
The series will premiere in September.
