CBS News is shaking up its streaming platform, doubling its live coverage and extending shows like John Dickerson’s ‘Daily Report‘ as part of its overhaul.

Formerly dubbed the CBS News Streaming Network, the service will now be rebranded as CBS News 24/7 starting April 22. Offering free, ad-supported content, the platform will feature original reporting from CBS News and local stations, with an increase in programming and live hours to meet growing demand. This move comes after CBS News witnessed over 21 billion minutes of streaming in 2023.

Wendy McMahon, president and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures, hailed these changes as a significant evolution in their streaming efforts. CBS News has been a pioneer in streaming since launching its own app before CBS All-Access debuted in 2015. Now, with the merger of CBS Corp. and Viacom into Paramount Global, the network is expanding its streaming reach.

Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews, president of CBSN, emphasized the commitment to delivering top-notch reporting and analysis on the streaming platform, mirroring the quality of television broadcasts. The expansion includes the launch of America Decides and CBS News Confirmed, aimed at combating misinformation.

Additionally, CBS News 24/7 will introduce a live, one-hour “whip-around” newscast in June to cover events as they unfold. Other highlights include the extension of Dickerson’s ‘Daily Report‘ and the inclusion of library episodes from flagship CBS News programs.

Despite the streaming growth, CBSN must navigate its affiliate model with pay-TV partners while prioritizing ad revenue on the streaming platform. The revamped CBS News 24/7 promises to be a game-changer in the digital news landscape, offering viewers enhanced content and coverage.
