Anthony Mackie, known for his role as Sam Wilson/Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), recently shared insights into his experience with Marvel and his excitement for new projects, including the upcoming film “Captain America: Brave New World.”

In an interview with Radio Times while promoting his series “Twisted Metal,” Mackie compared the creative freedom of his current project to his time in the MCU. He emphasized that while Marvel provides a platform for entertainment, it comes with certain constraints due to the rich comic book source material.

Mackie noted that Marvel operates within a “space of controlled entertainment,” where the vast content created by Stan Lee limits the extent of creative liberties. In contrast, projects like “Twisted Metal” offer more flexibility for storytelling and character development.

Directed by Julius Onah and co-written by Malcolm Spellman, “Captain America: Brave New World” features an ensemble cast including Harrison Ford, Liv Tyler, and Tim Blake Nelson. Mackie highlighted the camaraderie among the cast of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” expressing disappointment over the series not receiving a second season.

While Mackie will miss working alongside his co-stars, he remains enthusiastic about his future endeavors. “Captain America: Brave New World” is slated for release on February 14, 2025, offering audiences a fresh perspective on the iconic superhero.
