‘Andor’ season 2 will be the last time Diego Luna plays Cassian

Diego Luna has confirmed that the second season of Andor series will be his final adventure in the enormous Star Wars universe.

The Disney+ series Andor will be the end of Cassian, or at least the final time Luna, portrays one of the Rebellion’s most iconic heroes. He will leave the galaxy far, far away after 24 episodes covering two seasons, the latter of which won’t be available until 2024.

Speaking on an episode of Entertainment Weekly‘s Dagobah Dispatch podcast, the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story alum says he has almost finished filming on Andor Season 2 and won’t return for more.

“For me, this is it. It’s a beautiful journey now that I have 24 episodes, 24 shorter films, to tell the story of where Cassian comes from and how he got to be the man we met in Rogue One.”

The actor went on to explain that this is how he prefers to approach his work, considering the closure as giving him with a sense of security.

“It does have a beginning and an end. Therefore, I can understand it and I can enjoy the ride and kind of picture the aim we have. I think that’s needed, otherwise you’re always working to get somewhere else. I don’t think that way.”

The first three episodes of Star Wars: Andor will be accessible on Disney+ on September 21, with new episodes airing weekly on Wednesdays.
