Netflix has assembled an all-star cast for their next unnamed romcom. Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, and Joey King are expected to feature in the film, which will be directed by Behind the Candelabra director Richard LaGravenese.
The script was co-written by LaGravenese and Carrie Solomon, with Joe Roth, Jeff Kirschenbaum, and Alyssa Altman producing for Roth/Kischenbaum Films.
The plot revolves around an unexpected romance that has hilarious consequences for a young lady, her mother, and her movie star employer as they deal with the complexities of love, intimacy, and identity. The project was just greenlit and will begin production later this year.
Following a year of great dramatic turns that began with the Hulu series Nine Perfect Strangers, Kidman now has a light comedy on her forthcoming schedule. Efron returns to Netflix after playing serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile.
Whereas, King is still as busy as any other actor, with projects such as Hulu’s The Princess, which premieres on July 1, and the much-anticipated Bullet Train. She is also a Netflix icon, thanks to the popularity of The Kissing Booth trilogy, in which she starred.
Efron is represented by WME and Johnson, Shapiro, Slewett & Kole and Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown & Passman. King is repped by UTA, Industry Entertainment and Hirsch Wallterstein Hayum Matlof & Fishman. LaGravenese who directed the romantic drama P.S. I Love You and the 2013 fantasy Beautiful Creatures is represented by CAA, LBI Entertainment, and Ira Schreck at Schreck, Rose & Dapello.
