David Harbour, who portrays Detective Jim Hopper on the Netflix series Stranger Things, revealed at the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi over the weekend that the show’s fifth and last season would start filming in June, bringing fans closer to the Upside Down.
According to Collider, and as Harbour confirmed the news of the filming, he said, “We’re walking into Season 5m” he said. “I’ve got a couple more months to train. We start shooting that in June, though, and that will be the final season. I did a lot of training for Season 4.”

He gave an idea about how this season is going to be. The character of Hopper was in a unique situation, being in a Russian prison, and the intention was to make him into a different person by stripping away physical, mental, and emotional layers. However, since he’s back in America, where there are cheeseburgers aplenty, he’ll be well-fed.
Lastly, while Harbour confirmed Season 5’s shooting schedule, Finn Wolfhard also confirmed its release window in February. During an interview, Wolfhard mentioned, “I will be 22 by the time [Stranger Things Season 5] comes out, I think, and I started working on the show at 12. That is insane.” This would set the fifth season up for a 2025 release date with its filming in Summer of 2023 as mentioned.
