All The New Movies And Series Coming To Amazon Prime TV This Month

Amazon Prime TV has been adding to its impressive library over the years. This month, several new titles are being added that are guaranteed to keep you entertained. Here are the crème de la crème:

February 2021

Here are the latest shows and movies headed to Amazon Prime this February:

Dexter

On the surface, a show about a serial killer doesn’t sound anything new. A serial killer that kills other serial killers begins to sound promising. But a serial killer who also works for the Miami Metro? That’s a gripping plot right there, and so it proved. Dexter quickly established itself as one of the best shows on television through its 8-year run. It follows Dexter, the titular character, as he tries to balance his life as a day-time blood splatter expert and a night-time serial killer. He’s able to live this dual lifestyle but frequently deals with both personal and professional hassles that threaten his secrets. It is one of the best shows ever aired on Showtime, and fans of the series will be delighted to know that it is now available to view on Amazon Prime.

Herself

Herself is an emotional rollercoaster, plunging viewers into a variety of emotions throughout the movie. The central plot revolves around Sandra. She’s been tolerating her abusive husband for more than a decade for the sake of her kids. However, one day she’s finally had enough and decides to fight back against both her husband and the system that allows her abuse. She doesn’t let any of this waver her spirits as she sets off building her own house from the ground up. With no training, skills, or manpower to help her, she has only her determination to rely on. Herself is a story of tenacity in the face of adversity. Amazon Prime subscribers are in for a treat as they can begin streaming it starting this month.

One Night in Miami

We’ve gotten a lot of crossover ensemble movies these past few years. Whether it’s Godzilla, Batman, or Ironman, we all love watching our favorite fictional characters share the screen with other popular characters. Hence, it’s only natural that a movie about real-life figures potentially sharing the screen captures our imagination just as effectively. One Night in Miami sees Muhammad Ali, Sam Cooke, Malcolm X, and Jim Brown meet during the height of the civil rights movement. In a closed room in Hampton, the four iconic individuals talk about their responsibilities as successful black men of that era. They argue, debate, and proselytize about the best way forward for the black community in the United States. The performances delivered are extraordinary, to say the least, giving the viewers a peek at what would such a meeting have looked like in real life. Amazon Prime subscribers can now watch this gem of a movie starting this month.

Alone

Any idea is a good idea if executed properly. This holds true for Alone. While there’s no shortage of slash-and-dash thrillers, finding a good one can be a challenging task. Alone is one of those few movies that live up to their billing. It follows Jessica, who’s being stalked by a creep. The film grips the viewer from the first few minutes as it shows Jessica trying to make her way out of the jungle. She knows she’s being followed, that her stalker has her completely in view, that he’s toying with her psychologically. The lean storytelling has all the elements of a tense film, letting the action flow naturally. It currently has a 95% Rotten Tomatoes score.

How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother faced the unwanted prospect of being a sort of successor to the highly acclaimed Friends. It was easy to see the reasons behind the comparisons due to similarity in characters and basic format. It only took a few episodes for How I Met Your Mother to carve out an identity of its own. Ted Mosby finally decides to tell his kids the story of how he met their mother. But he’s not cutting it short and decides to go all the way to the start. His storytelling lasts for nine seasons, as he walks his kids through all the trials, tribulations, and twists of fate that led to the moment he met their mother. Considered one of the best sitcoms ever made, Amazon subscribers can begin binge-watching it now as the show’s finally available on the platform.

January 2021

Here are the latest shows and movies available on the platform this January:

A League of Their Own

Some movies tend to make us doubt whether the events in them happened at all. That’s often the case with A League of Their Own. Not only is it a true story, but it also sticks closely to how and where the events happened. It follows the 1943 All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. Tom Hanks is joined by Madonna, Rosie O’Donnell, and Geena Davis as they portray what it meant to be a female sportsperson during WWII.

The King’s Speech

If The Crown piqued your interest in the Queen and how she’s developed as a person over more than seven decades, The King’s Speech will give you a similar insight into her father, King George VI. King George VI was the Emperor of the British Empire in decline, facing the prospect of defeat against the Nazis. The nation looked at their King for hope. Hope that the King fails to inspire due to a stutter which leads to a scare of public speaking. Working with a speech therapist, he overcomes his fear to rally an entire empire through one of its darkest days.

Sound of Metal

Heavy metal has a lot of facets that other music genre’s lack. Most prominently, it is loud. Very loud. So, what happens when a heavy metal drummer begins losing his hearing, he sees the writing on the wall for his career. Yet, he refuses to give up and seeks the support of the deaf community in coming to terms with his anger. He finds a new perspective, rediscovering himself as a person in the meantime.

The Expanse

The Expanse is arguably the best, or at least one of the best, sci-fi series on Amazon Prime TV right now. A catastrophic asteroid is headed towards Earth, and gold has been discovered on another planet. This leads to the eventual colonization of that planet. However, after decades of suppression, the indigenous population of that planet rose against the human race. Its premise that sets the human race as the villains is a unique concept that makes it one of the most exciting shows streaming right now.

Sylvie’s Love

Sylvie’s Love is a traditional love story that revolves around an old question, “Can true love survive decades of separation?” Sylvie is an up-and-coming TV producer who strikes up a kindling romance with a saxophonist. It soon turns into love, but they both realize it could endanger their careers and future. When their paths meet decades later, they realize that the flames of their earlier romance remain.
